Carl Frederick Rymski III, Friday, April 8, 1938 - Sunday, July 30, 2017


Slingerlands - Carl Frederick Rymski III, SFC (retired).  Carl was 79 when he died, July 30, 2017, at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home after a sudden decline in his health due to metastatic renal cell carcinoma of his liver.  He retired after 28 yrs. of military service in the U.S. Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve.  He had been stationed at the Washington Ave. Armory-Logistics & Subsistence, Army Reserve-364th General Hospital on North Main Ave., New Scotland Ave. Armory-210th Armor, and Glenmore Road Armory-Support Services.  He had a variety of occupations usually related to the medical field or law enforcement.  He was Past Master of James Ten Eyck No.831 in 1976 which later merged with Wadsworth Lodge No.417. He was also Past Master of Washington Lodge No.85 which became Bethlehem Lodge No.85.  He was a member of Cyprus Shrine and several clubs assoiated with Cyprus Shrine.  In addition he was a member of a number concorant Masonic bodies.  Member and Past Commander Capital City Commandery No.2 Knights Templar; Member and Past Illustrious Master Bloss-DeWitt Clinton Council No.14, Cryptic Masons; Member and Past High Priest, Ancient Temple Chapter No.5, Royal Arch Masons; Member of Trinity Priory No.5, Knight York Cross of Honor; Member of Albany Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdition and a member of Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of the State of New York.  He was a member of the past Masters Asssociation of  the Old 17th Masonic District State of New York as well as St. George Council, Order of Anointed Kings.  He was appointed by The Grand Lodge of the State of New York as the Grand Representative to  Uruguay in 2001.  He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No.699.  He regularly joined his friends from the Nite Owl's as well as the Albany Polish-American Citizens Club.  He was a member of the Blanchard American Legion Post 1040.  He was a life member of the former Hart Hose Fire Company from the City of Rensselaer.

He was born at home in the City of Albany to Jennie (Hinds) & Carl F. Rymski Jr. who have predeceased him as well as Inez (Delk) & Carl F. Rymski Sr., his grandparents who raised him.  He is also predeceased by his brothers James & Joseph Rymski.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann L. (Haun) Rymski; his daughters Jean Shatraw of Niagara Falls & her three sons Michael, Kkyle, & Luke Shatraw; Deborah Rymski of Gaylord, MI & her three children Nicole, Jamie & Ryan Deeters; Elizabeth (Rymski) & (Charles) Sullivan of Voorheesville & their daughter Marianne. In addition he has seven great-grandchildren.  Also survived by siblings Carolyn and Douglas.

Calling hours will be Friday, August 8 from 4-8:00 pm at the funeral home.  There will be a Masonic service at 6:;00 pm followed by a brief service conducted by the American Legion Post at 7:30 pm.  Church service will be on Saturday, August 5 at 10:00 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with full military honors at the graveside in Jerusalem Cemetery, Feura Bush.  Reception to follow at Blanchard American Legion Post 1040.
