Marcelle M. Olsen Saturday, June 23, 1923 - Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Delmar - Marcelle M. (Moore) Olsen, 93, after an extended illness, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on June 23, 1923, to Arthur and Marcelle Moore of Mamaroneck, NY. Marcelle was predeceased by her two brothers, George and Arthur Moore.

Marcelle served her country in the Navy during World War II from 1946 to 1949; then again during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954; being the first WAVE to ever reenlist.  Between stints in the Navy, Marcelle attended Wagner College where she met the love of her life, Rolf A. Olsen.  They married and enjoyed 54 years of marriage and raising three children, Marcell Kim Paonessa (Salvatore), Rolf Arthur Olsen Jr. (Brenda) and Neil Andrew Olsen (Patti); and five grandchildren, Neil A. Olsen Jr., Arthur J. Olsen, Kala C. Olsen, Tucker R. Olsen and Francesco A. Paopessa.

Marcelle was a devout Lutheran all her life and a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years.  She also served the public as a Girl Scout leader.  Marcelle worked as an Avon representative for over 45 years, during which time she made many friends and considered them not just as customers, but as family.

Marcelle's hobbies included camping with her family at Pecks Lake, gardening, baking, knitting, water aerobics and sharing stories with friends.

A special thanks to Dr. Roberta Miller, Eddy Nursing staff, Elizabeth Hamlan, Jenny Lyman and Gary, Dylan Kayla and Patti for their help in a peaceful end of life.

Funeral service, 4 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home, friends may call at the funeral home 2:00-4:00 pm prior.  Interment Monday, 1:00 pm at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
