Norman Greenfeld Saturday, May 9, 1925 - Monday, January 30, 2017

 

Albany - Norman Greenfeld passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home in Albany, NY.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 9, 1925 the son of Ettie and Joseph Greenfeld.

After serving in the Army during WW II, Norman attended Utica and Syracuse Universities, earning a BA and MA in Psychology and then completed his Ph.D. at UMass, Amherst, also in Psychology.  He then moved to Albany where he served as Professor of Psychology at SUNY Albany for 37 years.

Norman had many interests including classical music, computer activities and especially bowling, which he was involved in for over 60 years.  He was a current member in a Senior League and was a long term volunteer with the Albany Bowling Association and was recently honored by being made a member of the USBC Hall of Fame.  He was also a dog lover, especially of daschunds.

Norman leaves behind his wife of 60 years Elinor and his daughter Jennifer Dorn.  A memorial service will take place at Avila Independent Retirement Community at a date to be announced.  For those wishing to remember Norman with special appreciation, we respectfully ask that a charitable donation be made to Camphill Village USA, 84 Camphill Road, Copake, NY 12516.  His niece has been a long  term resident at this community for adults wih special needs.
