Roland Carito Friday, June 6, 1975 - Saturday, April 15, 2017


Glenmont - Roland Carito, 41, April 15, 2017 at home.  Roland was born June 6, 1975 in Mt. Kisco, NY to Raymond and Phyllis Carito.  He married Carlotte McNally on May 22, 2005 in Walpole, NH. He attended Taconic Hills, was a 1993 graduate of Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA and attended Univ. of NH. Roland dedicated his life to at-risk youth, touching the lives of many children and mentoring dozens of staff.  He was the Director of Operations for the Boys and Girls Club of Ulster County.  He was a youth basketball coach, and an avid Yankees and Syracuse basketball fan.  He previously served on the board of the Esopus Creek Conservatory and was a past member of the Saugerties, NY Kiwanis Club, the Ulster County Workforce Investment Youth Council and the Community Development Partnership.  He lived in many places, Copake Falls, NY; Eugene, Or; Springfield, OR; Porland, OR; Portland, ME; Denver, CO; Ashuelot NH; Brattleboro, VT; Pittsburg, PA; Saugerties, NY; Dallas, TX and finally settled in Glenmont.  He was a passionate husband and father.  He is survived by his wife Charlotte Jean, Children, Raymond Robert, age 11; Vera Jean, age 3; his parents, Phyllis and Raymond, sister Corey Carito; aunts, Regina Cicchetti and Susan Zimmer.  Also survived by his in-laws Dan and Lee Anne McNally, daughter Emery(3), Sharon & Dave Alderton, sons Drew (7), Chase (5), Lyla (11 months), Sean and Shannon McNally, daughter Elvie (3), Taylor McNally (22).  His loyal dogs, Dora & Avalanche and cat Verona.  Pre-deceassed by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen and Marsha McNally and brother-in-law, Travis McNally and dogs Rocky, Bish-Bash and Sammie.

Services will take place at the funeral home Thursday, 11:00 am.  Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, 5;00-7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the  education fund set up for Raymond and Vera Carito.. Contributions should be made to the Roland Carito Memorial Fund and mailed directly to CAP COM Federal Credit Union, 4 Winners Circle, Albany, NY 12205.  Or, to  These funds will assist during this time of hardship.

Yesterday, we grabbed the "Daily Mail" newspaper from our mailbox as we left to visit our daughter in NJ. So shocked & saddened to read of your son, Roland's death! So sorry for your loss! Beautiful soul!
