William B. Craft Friday, December 27, 1940 - Friday, March 17, 2017
Glenmont - William "Bill" Craft, 76 beloved husband of Madeline Craft joined his savior on March 17, 2017. Bill led a lifetime of service, serving our country from 1960-1966 in the National Guard, he was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He then served the State of New York, starting as an electrical engineer working on building design for schools and state agencies, ultimately retiring from the New York State Deptartment of Correctional Services as the Deputy Superintendent of Administration at the Willard Drug Treatment Center located in the Finger Lakes Region. In his retirement, Bill continuted to serve as a dedicated volunteer in the Music Therapy program at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital. He was active member and leader at the Onesquethaw Reformed Church.
Bill enjoyed raising and showing quarter, horses, winning numerous awards over the years. He also enjoyed playing guitar, a gift he often shared with his VA and Church communities. Bill also enjoyed the simple pleasures of riding his bicycle, going fishing, and just being a neighbor and friends to many.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his four cherished children: Kimberly M. Proctor of Clifton Park, William L. Craft (Libbie) of Selkirk, Brian J. Craft (Stacie) of Glenmont, and Kevin J. Craft (Connie) of Selkirk. Madeline's children who he regarded with much affection also survive him: Diana (Paul) MacFarland, Maurice "Butch" (Laurie) Levine, Janice (Joe) Siniski, Kimberly(Peter) Landauer, and Tracy Amsden. Bill also leaves his sisters Barbara Casatelli, Anna Cozzy, Rosemary Rizzo, the late Delores Messer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill's most precious grandchildren brought him great joy and fulfillment. Whether it was a ride to preschool, a ride home from college, or just a ride for an ice cream, he kept very busy being "Poppy" to his eight grandchildren: Christopher, Alison, and the late Matthew Proctor, Sara Craft, Mitchell, Olivia, and Alicia, Emily Craft.
Friends and loved ones may call at the Meyers Funeral Home Monday 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Onesquethaw Reformed Church, Terrytown Road Road, Feura Bush. Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Onesquethaw Reformed Church's Youth Group or to the American Cancer Society.
